Post Doctoral Position - Available Now

Applications are invited for a funded postdoctoral position in the Yantis Lab.  We investigate the cognitive and neural basis of attention and cognitive control by measuring the speed and accuracy of hand and eye movements, and patterns of brain activity using functional MRI. We are located on JHU’s beautiful Homewood Campus, and we collect fMRI data at the Kirby Center for Functional Neuroimaging. My lab is a member of the JHU Vision Sciences Group which includes labs from several JHU departments with related interests in visual perception and cognition.

Candidates who have completed or will soon complete a PhD in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, or a related field, who have demonstrated experience with both behavioral and neuroimaging methods, and who have extensive experience with MATLAB and related software are invited to apply.

Lab Manager (Research Program Assistant II) Position - Available July 2013

Applications are invited for a full-time lab manager position, funded by ongoing NIH grants, to coordinate, manage, and implement the research activities of the lab. We are currently investigating the neural mechanisms of attention and cognitive control using human behavior and neuroimaging. This position is based at the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus.

The lab manager assists in all phases of the research process, including designing and implementing experimental paradigms, recruiting, scheduling, and testing participants, data analysis, and manuscript preparation; there are opportunities to program experimental paradigms and analyze data using MatLab and SPSS. The lab manager also assists with the preparation of grant proposals and administration of funded grants and human subjects protocols.

Candidates with a B.A. or equivalent with background in cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, or related fields are invited to apply. Previous research experience is important, knowledge of a programming language such as MatLab is a plus. A highly motivated and energetic approach to research is essential. A minimum two-year commitment is required.

This is a perfect position for someone who is planning to attend graduate school in cognitive neuroscience or cognitive psychology and who seeks research experience and training to prepare for admission to a leading graduate program. Opportunities for participations in relevant seminars and journal clubs are available.
